How to become a active listener.

阅读更多
In our daily life we always take part in a conference of a report or just a simple presentation. If feels sleepy or boring, it is just a kind of time consuming process. Today, our English teacher tell us some suggestions--how to make a active listener.
These can be concluded into three points. The first and the most important one is to show empathy. To show you are listening to the speaker. This process we can use our body language, such as nod our head, or just one simple yes. To make sure your are interacting with your speaker. And try to indicate some agreement with the speaker's idea. For example, you can use: "You're right. I know...", just to show you are listening to him/her, and this process will also can help you to focus on the speaker, avoiding to out of mind.
The second one is to ask questions. The speaker is always want to give you some information or idea, and sometimes this idea is very new to you. So you can ask the speaker more question to enhance your understanding. And in this process will also help you to get more information beyond the speaker. You can ask any question related to the speaker's topic. For example, "Really? How did that happened? ...".
The third process sames very easy, but it is also very important, just repeat the speaker's saying. Sometimes, repeating is necessary. This can help the speaker to confirm whether all the question you are really understanded. There is a very common example in our daily life is: Someone is using telephone to tell you the bank account information, an d your may be write it down, and at the end, your will repeat it to confirm whether it is right or not. But in real communication process, may be require other skill to repeat the speaker's meaning. For example ,may be you can give a  conclude matching the speaker's meaning. In this process, we can use "What I heard you say was...".
I hope all of us can become a active listener. Any comment and feedback is very welcome.
